Fruits And Vegetables Are Healthy For Kids

Getting kids to eat their fruits and vegetables isn't always easy. However starting them young and teaching them about the foods they're eating is a great way to ensure your kids grow up eating their fruits and vegetables. The vegetables and fruits are very important for your kids regular diet. Here are eight helpful tips to get your kids to eat their fruits and vegetables. Start them young

If you've been feeding your children from the drive-thru menu more often than not, it might be little difficult to convert them to fruit and veggie lovers (not to say that it can't be done!). That's why it's easiest to introduce healthy foods from the moment you start introducing your baby to table food. And don't give up right away just because your little one spits out his green beans. If your child doesn't like a particular food that he tries for the first time, we are advising parents to reintroduce it at another time - it can take several times before he acclimates to certain foods.

Grow it yourselfIf you involve your children in the process, they are much more likely to want to eat the fruits of their labor (quite literally!). Think about how much fun you have mixing cookie dough. Planting a garden full of delicious homegrown produce can be just as fun and even more rewarding, but it does take some patience while the produce is growing.

Lead by example
Put down the double cheeseburger, and listen here. Your kids are watching you and learning from everything you do. So if you are not eating healthfully, why should they? Turn over a new leaf and try some new fruits and vegetables with your child.

Let them choose their favorites
Next time you are at the market, let your child pick out one new fruit or vegetable to try, and then get creative with how you prepare them in a meal. Bananas can get a little boring again and again, but top slices with a dollop of peanut butter, and you've got a whole new taste experience.

Present them prettily
|Mix bold-colored berries together with a spoonful of whipped cream or set out a bowl of bright citrus. Let your children 'eat' the food with their eyes first — it's all about presentation.

Teach your kids the importance of eating well
You may think your kids don't want to hear about why they have to eat their broccoli before they leave the table, but don't underestimate the power of reasoning. Explain it in a fun way — fruits and vegetables are the fuel that allows your kids to run and play all day!

Eat with the seasons
Fruits and veggies taste best when they are in season, so try to follow which ones are at their peak and choose from those. You will definitely taste a difference — and so will your kids.

Shop local
Shopping at farmer's markets can serve a dual purpose — kids can get a taste of where the fruits and vegetables they eat actually come from and on many occasions they can even meet the farmer who grew them. Local produce is also environmentally friendly since it doesn't have to be trucked in.
